MALLORCA AND MENORCA

The series shows the diversity of the Spanish islands in the Mediterranean: Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera combine the Mediterranean climate, the contrasting landscape and a rich animal world – and yet they are very different. In the 4-part series we meet people who live the modern zeitgeist as well as their traditions.

We show that the Balearic Islands have more to offer than sun, beaches and party fun. The focus here is on flora and fauna beyond the tourist trails and the people who want to preserve or even improve these living environments.

Episode 1 “Mallorca, the Queen” presents the MedGardens project to save the Neptune grass meadows on the coast, shows Pep Tapia’s commitment to protecting the black vultures in the Serra de Tramuntana and meets the basket weavers of Capdepera, who preserve an ancient craft. With the capital Palma we discover one of the most beautiful Spanish cities.

Episode 2 “Menorca, the little sister” proves that the small neighboring island is just as impressive as the big one. The whole island is a biosphere reserve with a great diversity of species. Here we explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Talayotic buildings and learn about the typical Menorcan art of horse riding.
